5 Weeks Old

I think it finally hit me today that we have two kids. I was nursing Charlie on the couch and watching Hudson play with his dinosaurs and all of a sudden I realized "we have two kids". Crazy, I know, since it has been 5 weeks since Charlie joined the family. Maybe I got a little more sleep last night than normal and my brain was actually functioning, who knows!! Either way, it was a nice moment for me sitting on that couch, nursing a daughter and watching my son. I'm one lucky mommy with a lot to be thankful for.

With that, Charlotte is getting big big big!! She loves the bath, hates the afterward part, but loves being in the water. She's getting rolls everywhere, something I love about babies! I'm trying to get her used to her crib by having her take naps there. She took almost a 3 hour nap there the other day! I'm trying to be good about pictures so here's a little photo shoot of Charlotte, 5 weeks old.

Remlinger Farms

Last Saturday we went to Remlinger Farms for my mom's birthday and had SO much fun!! My sister and her girls were in town, but unfortunately my brother's family was all sick with the stomach flu (we missed you guys!!). Remlinger Farms is amazing and packed with things to do. We will definitely be going back as Hudson had a blast going on all the rides. He fell asleep in the stroller for about an hour while we walked the corn field maze and went through the pumpkin patch so we will be hitting up another pumpkin patch this weekend. We ended our day by visiting the animal petting area. There were goats, sheep, turkeys, chickens, and roosters. Hudson had no fear and was getting really close to the animals even though Ryan and I both warned him to be careful. As we headed out Hudson took one last look at a turkey and got his face right up close to the wire cage. The turkey apparently didn't like how close Hudson got and bit him on the lip. Of course Hudson cried, but after we got him calmed down, we told him it was a little bit funny and that we would get our revenge on Thanksgiving. The car ride home Hudson kept saying "Bad turkey, owie, funny". It was hysterical!! No pictures of the bloody lip, sorry.

Hudson has shown very little interest in eating these days which concerns me, but at the same time I know that kids go through these phases. When he pulled the Bumbo seat out of Charlie's closet the other day and wanted to have his breakfast in it, I wasn't going to stop him as my thinking was at least he was going to eat! Bruiser was very excited as well since Hudson was literally on the ground and the food could be stolen much easier from the tray than when Hudson is at the table. On a side note, Hudson is such a ham!!

Time Flies

Can someone please tell me how Charlotte is a month old already?!?! Why does it have to happen so fast?!?! Charlie is a very alert baby, has been holding her head up for the last 2 weeks, can track a toy or our finger, is starting to coo adorably, and quite frankly, acting much too old for only being a month. The smiling so early is killing me (see previous posting)! I can't believe she is so responsive already. She is still doing really well at night. Even the nights she wants to eat every 3 hours, she still goes right back to sleep. I took these pictures of Charlie in her crib today...exactly one month old.

My Thoughtful Husband

I should start by saying this, my husband is not romantic AT ALL and not a planner. I knew however Ryan had planned something for our 5 year anniversary months ago and was keeping it a surprise. He had me write my mom a check for "something" nearly 9 months ago and every so often I would ask them what it was for. Both stuck to the same story of "it's to pay off a gambling debt to my dad". I couldn't break either of them and just tried to be patient. All Ryan would tell me was that the day after our anniversary we would be going to lunch and he had arranged for my mom to watch Hudson. Our anniversary finally came and I'm glad that I was patient and surprised. Ryan had rented out the Lake Union Crew, the spot where we got married, and we had a picnic lunch on the balcony overlooking the dock where we exchanged our vows. Are you kidding me?!?! I'm shocked I managed to hold it together and not cry. I know if I started crying, I probably wouldn't have stopped since I'm still so hormonal! During our lunch we talked about the last 7 years of our relationship, the last 5 years of our marriage, and our thoughts and feeling on our wedding day. It was such a special afternoon, one I won't soon forget.
